The B.C. government and three Metro Vancouver First Nations—Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh—are partnering to build 2,600 below-market housing units in Vancouver. The project, located on an 8.5-hectare lot at the Heather Lands, will offer homes to middle-income residents at 60% of market price. The province will finance 40%, to be repaid upon sale or after 25 years. Construction is expected to start in 2025. The initiative aims to provide affordable housing for first-time buyers, with income caps and residency requirements in place.
